Jason Clay Lewis came to New York in 1991 on a scholarship and internship at Universal Limited Art Editions.  From 1992 – 1994 he worked with Jasper Johns as his personal studio assistant.  Continuing his education, he graduated from The Cooper Union with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1997.  Jason has been actively curating and showing work for the last several years in the New York metropolitan area.  International opportunities have included a residency and one man show in Prague.  He is currently represented by 31GRAND in New York.  His work has been reviewed in articles appearing in publications including Art in America, World of Art, The New York Times, and The Village Voice.

I see my work as an unceasing exploration into the understanding of mortality.  My interest in unique materials helps to develop my ideas of attraction verses repulsion.  I want my work to have both a strong visceral feeling while maintaining a direct cerebral presence.  Jason currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
